Momentums of Misfitings

Here for Dicky bashing? Scroll down...as in nearer the bottom. Once in a while the little guy comes out on top...unpredictable...unheralded...temporary... It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key... It takes some 248 years, but wee pluto's determination bumps neighboring neptune to the back...and what happened the last time pluto stepped back to ninth?  I'll tell you ...

InterBike – Roundup

0700 return flight...it hurts... In the interest of full disclosure I will say nothing and claim the blame is on Justin of Princeton Tec and these all-black Swiftwicks. 5% 12% drunker Totally by accident and without my consent. Stupid Vegas.

InterBike – RunAround

Good ideas abound. Success seems inevitable on the NUMMERS frame dropout situation...didn't know there was a situation? Well maybe there is maybe there isn't, if you weren't in the loop that's just because and might not be personal. Final budget still requires massaging but Paragon Machine works appears to have something, provided it doesn't double the cost of the frame, it should be a go. Met with fellow TEAM ...

InterBike – The arrival of the fittest

Wake 0500 Cattle prod motivation wisked me to the 0830 What do you know, my seatmate in 20B, a giant. His globulous flesh flowing deep into myspace...I slid in and prepared for a moist sleep...I dreamed of waking to my hand being gnawed off. Happily, Jabba remembered a large duffle bag (Molson Export to be exact). He perched the sack on his lap, unziped (the bag) to reveal a stock ...

CTS – Report Card

As a qualified and easily opinionated critic, one with whom I generally agree, I feel it my duty and obligation to pass on judgment concerning the events that transpired this past weekend at CRANK THE SHIELD 2008. Prepare thy self for a complex grid of formulations, observations, hesitations, declarations and  (eventually) one coronation. Heavy on the picturations. As I suggested yesterday...the likelihood of success was slim... This is that, leading ...

CTS – Summary

How do you do a stage race in Ontario? Who would even want to? It's never been done, with good reason, there just isn't that much that's that good... In this corner, wearing the green nipple high trunks we have CHICO RACING.  Premier organizer, developer and supporter of all things mountain biking in mountain'ly challenged Ontario (see above).  Host's to North America's LARGEST 24hr race (Summer Solstice), the Ontario Cup (...

CTS – Day THREE

HALIBURTON TO HALIBURTON FOREST - 17km Neutral ride, 55km Race No contest. Hands down. Best day of riding, ever. Almost dry. Climbing...oh hell ya. Climbing and climbing and climbing. Pre-race Joe Cruz came to Koala Boys #11 for the sole purpose of putting Mark Lepper on notice. The balls. So the neutral ride was a laugh, a 17km warm-up, exactly what was needed for what came up off the gun......

CTS – Day TWO

KANDALORE TO HALIBURTON - 85km At some point during the course preview yesterday the topic of bogs, frogs and logs was discussed in great lenght. They lied. A lot. A 4km warm up ride to the start ensured that vests and sleeves weren't required. Victory. Starting near the leader was less important today as a 2km gravel spring seperated the men from me. Almost immediately the water started...that's okay, ...

CTS – Day ONE

BUCKWALLOW TO KANDALORE - 75km Gear ratio selection 32:16. Good for so not much. Buckwallow was amazingly fast, crushing the shield in the company of Bently, Summers and Lepper...a quick look behind on the exit yielded NO riders, we weren't in last and managed a fantastic gap before traffic reduced most to an 8km hike. Road sections were short lived and semi quick...the ratio held off most of the ...

CTS – Prologue

It's 545am. 45 minutes to Sharon for the cartastic pooling. 1hr 30 minutes to Buckwallow. 2 hrs after that... 400 people are going to be sporting those very same shorts...wishing they had the boots to match... The usual policy of blog-free weekends will not be observed this coming weekend Your hero, me, shall endeavor to post up this and that about things that happen here and there. There will maybe be one later ...

Crankdamonium!

Crank The Shield is some number of hours away, it would be pointless for me to put the differential into numbers as I just can't seem to wrap my head around the mathematics of time - 18hrs maybe??? Suffice it to say, it is now here and when it is then there (10:00hrs September 19, 2008) Team Misfit Psycles will begin the surgical dismantling of all two-wheeled comers...actually, unless this article ...

Crank Minus 36

Yesterday I claimed to have some 68 hours to get my groove on before the inaugural CRANK THE SHIELD, that is my righteous destruction of said single speed solo endurance race of moderate death... I have no clue how a mere 24 hours later I calculate that I have only 36 to go. 68-24=44 As I proved in the Tuesday Night Challenge, I know no maths...what I do know is that I ...

Jam Session

With a mere 68 hours before the first gun there is much to be done on behalf of CTS rider 123. It is a fact that organizers benefit when their event attracts celebrity attention. In order to draw personalities and celebrities to their events, organizers MUST provide these pillars of society with additional conveniences and considerations.  That is, simple amenities that go above and beyond those 'essentials' that would be offered to ...

Giddie Up

Pre-registration for Crank The Shield took place Durham Forest September 13th... These are the cogs that make the Chico world go around. Be afraid. Peter Glassford, Sean Ruppel - part time single speeders...sad.  If they weren't integral parts of the coming weekend I would have likely killed them both.  I could, Peter is small and Sean is simple (in a nice guy kinda way). With medical forms, waivers, licenses ...

House Cleaning

1800eatshite George. It seemed then that races, events, trade shows and various personal commitments (to inducing greater Psyclish goodness on the world) all hit the head, at this, the three quarter point of the annual... WHAT IS LEFT: Crank the Shield - September 19-21 If someone could read the BLOG and give me the Coles Notes by the Monday board meeting that would be super. Interbike - September 24-26 I ...
