Stage Two is Day Three.
And it felt every minute of it.

Another ’short’ day in terms of mileage.
Another ‘effort’ in terms of vertical.
Another ’shit storm of flaming legged death’ in terms of altitude.

Thrice today we crapped above the 11,000 mark.

Not all that intimidating is it.
13 deg maybe.
1 mile maybe.

Like all previous days, the efforts were not without reward.

Of course what goes up…except this time the decents were technical.
A whole world more technical then in the past.

Imagine millions of baby heads approaching at 60kph, except they are not really the heads of human babies so much as alien-types spawned by Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin.

Aside from ups and downs the woods held many mysterious objects of interesting proportions.
Thankfully (as previously noted) I was just RIDING and not so much RACING.

This beast died at approximately 11,000′.
Judging by the state of the ejector canvas I would propose the owner slide to safety without further issue.

Next descent.

This find proved to be slightly more interesting as there were merely pieces of this beast scattered for the next 200′.
Mismatched seats overlooking the look over, one headlight (smashed) and several large random metal bits that didn’t appear to be automotively inclined…nothing further.

Following the smattering that was Stage 2 I decided to treat myself to a 15$ 30 minute massage.
That was 20 minutes on calves, 8 minutes on hamstrings, 2 minutes on quads…it hurts so much more now.

Victory!

Stage 3 is set.
Toughest day of the Epic, or so they say.

3 passes, 2 over 11,000′ and 1 over 12,000′.
Over a mere 43 miles.
Projected times, 4-6hrs.

10 of 11.
I own it.
